Meet Dee Rivera, founder of Latinista and Dee & Co group. I met this beauty while attending an event and was immediately enthralled by her upbeat energy and go getter attitude. All night I watched Dee shoot from managing a team, interacting with guest, and giving make up tips of her own. I had to find out more about this mogul in the making so Art Of A Woman caught up with Dee for a quick girl talk
AOW: How did you get your start in the industry?
D: I actually got my start in editorial, I was working for
Latina Magazine. I started working for a bunch of photographers doing PR for a
couple of companies like Family Guides and so forth. From there I got
involved with ShopAddicts.com and it grew from there.
AOW: What is Latinista?
D: With Latinista we're growing so we bring social
awareness to the smaller nonprofits no one knows about. So that’s really the
goal at every event. I’m all about social causes especially when it comes to
women and children so really try at every event that is a very key component to
ensuring that we make women aware of what causes are out there that no one
knows about.
AOW: So that’s basically what Dee & Co is about to bring
awareness to small non profits or is it more than that?
D: That’s definitely one component of our business, the
other component is bringing brands awareness and marketing awareness so we try
to connect the brand and the consumer through interactive events, through
shopping experiences and pop up stores.
AOW: When was Dee & Co founded?
D: First we started shop addicts in 2010, Dee & Co
started actually in February so we’ve had to start an umbrella as far as like a
corporate umbrella and then the brand extensions under that. So right now we’re
trying to solidify everything you know to make sure that everything is going
through Co group.
AOW: Wow and in such little time you’ve had a lot of success!
Latinista has become an annual event correct?
D: Latinista started last year and started as a pilot and
then it became a brand in itself because the Latina market is huge so we
started being co group now we have ShopAddicts, Latinista and other brands that
are coming on board.
AOW: How did you pair up with Iman Cosmetics for the event?
D: Well I met them and they were looking for someone as a
platform to launch their new BB Crème and so we made that connection and the
rest is history.
AOW: What other events are coming up that we should know
about?
D: We have Latinista
fashion week coming August 23rd-24th and we have a
Latinista rooftop party in July with Iman Cosmetics. We have our
Fashion Night out in September and then Dee & Co is having a beauty lounge
in South Hampton in July. The date is not set yet but we will let everyone know.
AOW: How can people find out about your events?
D: Our websites will be launch soon. People can go on
Eventbrite or people can email me at Deecogroup@gmail.com.
Keep an eye out for this woman! More events will be coming soon so check back with Art Of A Woman frequently to find out more!
